Specialist Subjects

Specialist Subjects

At Lara Lake Primary School, every student from Prep to Grade 6 participates in four specialist subjects each week, with one hour dedicated to each learning area. Our specialist programs provide students with opportunities to develop knowledge, skills and creativity beyond the core classroom curriculum, with learning aligned to the Victorian Curriculum 2.0.

Visual Arts

Visual Arts encourages students to explore creativity, develop artistic techniques and respond to artworks. Students experiment with a range of materials, processes and forms while developing their ability to express ideas and interpret the work of others.

Music and Performing Arts

Music and Performing Arts provides opportunities for students to develop their musical knowledge, performance skills and confidence. Students explore singing, movement, instruments, composition, drama and performance while developing an appreciation of music and the performing arts.

Physical Education

Physical Education supports students to develop fundamental movement skills, fitness, teamwork and an understanding of healthy and active lifestyles. Students participate in a range of individual and team activities, building confidence and positive attitudes towards physical activity.

Science

Science develops students’ curiosity about the natural and physical world. Through practical investigations, questioning and explicit teaching, students build scientific knowledge and learn to observe, investigate, explain and communicate their understanding of scientific concepts.

Together, our specialist programs provide students with a broad and engaging education that supports them to reach their potential both academically and personally.
