Parent Involvement

Parent Partnerships

At Lara Lake Primary School, we value the strong partnerships we build with our families. We believe that when schools and families work together, students thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Parents and carers are encouraged to be actively involved in school life. There are many opportunities to support our students and contribute to our vibrant school community, including:

  • Assisting in classrooms and with learning activities
  • Volunteering on excursions and incursions to support student learning
  • Helping at school events, celebrations and special activities
  • Joining School Council or participating in parent committees
  • Supporting fundraising and community events

KidsLink is our dedicated parent volunteer group that plays an important role in creating a connected and welcoming school community. New members are always welcome, and involvement can be as little or as much as your time allows.

Throughout the year, KidsLink supports and organises a range of events and initiatives, including:

  • Mother’s Day and Father’s Day stalls
  • School discos and family events
  • BBQs and community celebrations
  • Fundraising activities that enhance learning opportunities and school facilities
  • Supporting special school events and student celebrations

KidsLink provides a wonderful opportunity for parents, carers and grandparents to meet other families, build friendships and make a positive contribution to the school. The group works closely with school staff to strengthen the partnership between home and school and create memorable experiences for our students.

We greatly appreciate the time, skills and enthusiasm that our volunteers bring to Lara Lake Primary School. Parent involvement enriches our learning programs, strengthens our community connections and helps create a positive and supportive environment where every child can thrive.

All volunteers are required to hold a current Working with Children Check and comply with the Department of Education’s Child Safety requirements to ensure a safe and supportive environment for every child.

Student Reports and Parent-Teacher Interviews

Student progress is formally reported twice each year, with reports issued in June and December.

Parent-Teacher Interviews are held following the Semester One reports and provide families with an opportunity to discuss their child’s learning, wellbeing and future goals.

Information sessions are also held early in the school year to support strong partnerships between home and school.

Families are welcome to contact their child’s classroom teacher through Compass at any time to arrange an additional meeting if they have questions or would like to discuss their child’s progress.
