Transition Forms and Placement
All families with Year 6 students enrolled in government schools must complete and return an application form listing government school preferences, even if a non-government school offers the student a place or if they intend to register for home schooling in 2027.
To accept a high school placement in Victoria, you must complete the Year 7 Placement Acceptance Slip and return it to your child's primary school by mid-August. The school will then securely transfer your child’s confidential data to the new secondary school. The Victoria Department of Education protects student enrolment data through strict legal frameworks, ensuring it is only accessible to authorized staff on a "need-to-know" basis. All personal and health data collected via the Form to Enrol in a Victorian Government School is governed by the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic) and the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic).

Can parents/carers change their secondary school preference/s?
Yes, parents/carers can change their secondary school preference/preferences. The student’s government primary school must manage this, regardless of the time of year. Therefore if you change your choice of high school, please inform the current primary school so they can keep their transition information up to date.
