The mid-year Student Reports will go online via Compass at 3.30pm today.

Dear Parents & Carers

The mid-year Student Reports will go online via Compass at 3.30pm today.

It has been quite a busy time at Lara Lake as staff have collated evidence of student learning and equated that data with other data sets in order to present a true archive of your child’s learning. The document you receive tonight is the culmination of six month’s work by your child, school staff and parents & carers.

I commend the Student Report to you and hope to see you at Wednesday’s conferences to further understand your child’s achievements.

The school acknowledges the important role that pets play in the community and the positive impact dogs can have on family life.

The school acknowledges the important role that pets play in the community and the positive impact dogs can have on family life. For many community members, dogs are an important part of the family. A dog can be a joy but they are also a big responsibility. In recent years, more dogs are being brought onto school grounds. This has the potential to increase the risk of injury to children caused by dogs (e.g. bites and scratches) through dogs reacting adversely to unexpected noise and/or movement of children. There have also been more cases of dog excrement within the school grounds. This poses a health issue to the school.

Some students have had poor experiences with dogs. Parents and their children can work on that. However, all students have the right to feel safe in their own school. Currently, some do not.

Please note the following and help us support all children.

  • Dogs are not permitted within the school grounds unless adult owners are given approval by the Principal.
  • It is not permitted to tether a dog at the school boundary fence.
  • Dogs assisting people with a disability are excluded from the above.
  • All staff members will respectfully ask the dog owner to remove the dog from the school grounds.
  • The school will contact the City of Greater Geelong when unattended dogs roam the school grounds.
  • Permission of the Principal is required if parents/carers wish to bring in puppies for a child’s ‘show and share’.
